Nikita Ryall ( At-Large )
Nikita Ryall is a candidate for Councillor-at-Large in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Why did you decide to run for this office?
I decided to run for municipal council because I see first hand in my work in the community along with working in mental health and addictions the issues people face. I have also been a resident of this city for most of my life, using the services such as Metrobus that seem to be failing our residents. While growing up in low income housing alongside some of the most vulnerable populations, I saw people truly struggling.I believe St. John’s needs strong voices who will listen, collaborate, and advocate for all residents. I want to bring new energy and a people-first approach to the council that focuses on community well-being, transparency, and building a city where everyone feels included and supported.
What are the three main issues you’d wish to tackle if elected and why?
My priorities are improving infrastructure so our city is safe and functional. Ensuring affordable, accessible housing for residents.Collaborating with community organizations that support mental health, addictions and help support the community. I want to tackle issues that directly impact quality of life, equity, and the ability for people to thrive here.
How do you intend to work with your colleagues at City Council to tackle these issues?
I intend to work collaboratively, listening to diverse perspectives and building consensus. By focusing on evidence-based solutions, open communication, and respect for all voices, I’ll help create common ground so we can move forward together.
Where do you see St. John’s in four years?
I see a more connected, inclusive, and sustainable city where residents have access to affordable housing, reliable infrastructure, and vibrant community spaces. A city that supports small businesses, celebrates diversity, and plans responsibly for the future while ensuring no one is left behind.
